The News from Nubia

If someone drops a jar of spaghetti sauce on the supermarket floor I typically don't goggle at it in fascination. It's an unedifying spectacle, depressing, actually, and it's not my job to clean it up. That's pretty much how I feel about the world economy and the G20 summit today—depressing, not my job. Fix it, guys. But there's much, much better news that I saw today on the front page of Wikipedia. It seems that a shower of diamonds fell out of the sky over the Nubian desert. That really happened. It was last October and I just found out about it today, but I'm trying to get the word out. You literally would not imagine that such a thing could really happen, but it really did. The next time somebody is depressed—especially if that somebody is myself—I'm going to mention that.
