Thinking Globally

Still very concerned about the Iranians who want their votes counted and voices heard, and don't want thuggish dictators to run their lives. It's 8 p.m. in my small town. People are walking their dogs; I can hear the tinkling chimes of the ice cream truck as it goes up and down the streets. It's nearly 5 in the  morning in Tehran. I keep checking in with Sully to see what's new, but realize it's not information I really want; what I really want is for it to be over. These people are brave, they deserve real democracy, and I want them to have it now. I was so inspired by that vast, silent crowd today, tens, hundreds of thousands of people, standing in the boulevards, a carpet of humanity extending for miles, demanding by their massive dignity that the regime be in fact what it is in name, a republic. If anyone from Iran is reading this, please know that many, many Americans are thinking about you and supporting you. Stay strong and safe! I wish your streets were as peaceful as mine, and I wish you could visit here and I there, and maybe someday that will happen. Good luck, good luck, good luck...
