Meanwhile in Media World

Not having TV and not being an office worker person, I didn't hear about L'Affaire Balloon Boy until it was mostly all over. At the end of the day the smartypants commenters at Wonkette let loose a pent-up blast of snark once it turned out that the story was relatively free of actual dead children. And I must say, a couple of the commenters really outdid themselves. One person referred to the parents as "attention whores," which I think is unfair and insulting—unfair and insulting, that is, to actual whores, who at least provide value for money like any constructive member of society. Anyway, here's one of my favorite comments:

Yo Balloon Boy, I’ma let u finish, but Anne Frank had one of the best attic hideouts of all time.

It works on so many levels. But this one's the best of all:

From dog heaven, Laika sneers.
